I have been a mover my entire life. From a young age, I trained in ballet and modern dance and danced professionally in the Bay Area, New York and Los Angeles. I was introduced to yoga by one of my dance instructors at UC Berkeley and was immediately intrigued by the grounding and guidance it provided me.
Yoga is not a magical salve. It is an opportunity to recommit every day. I have realized through this practice and my faith that we have an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves by listening closely to the gift of breath rather than the thoughts that would have us believe we are not worthy.
I have been teaching Yoga in New York and Los Angeles for 14 years both privately and in various studios. I completed my teacher training at Laughing Lotus Yoga. Center in NYC.
Just as I have moved in my body over the years, I have carved out this space to move through the various parts of Self. I am a mama, a mover and a writer. I have worked as a dancer, journalist, and yoga instructor. I am searching for ways to fuse these pieces together to be more connected and empowered to contribute positively to our world. Mothering, Yoga, the written word: I believe each of these can and should be used to elevate those around us.
In 2007 I began a blog entitled “Of Many Worlds”, which you will find here. I examine my environment (both near and far) as a mother, a woman of color and a witness anchored by my working class roots. Thanks for being here with me.
